You Deserve an Experienced Practitioner for Your Indian Law Issue

If you are a tribal member and you marry or work outside your tribe, and vice versa, if you are a non-tribal member and you marry a tribal member or work for a tribe, you almost inevitably create a host of potential Indian law problems. For example, if you have to get divorced, should it be in state court or tribal court? If you work for a tribe and you are sexually harassed by a tribal member, where does your remedy lie?

The answers to these questions are complicated and, of course, depend on the circumstances. If you have these kinds of issues, you probably need a specialist. Seattle has a number of Indian law specialists, some of whom are nationally known and highly respected.  However, all of them represent tribes.

I am willing to litigate on the other side. I am a member of the following tribal bars: Muckleshoot, Nooksack, Sauk-Suiattle, Tulalip, and Yakama. I am willing and able to join other tribal bars should the need arise. If appropriate, I am willing to sue in tribal court or the appropriate tribal administrative forum.

I began my legal career revising and drafting code for the Swinomish Indian Tribal Community in La Conner, Washington. I have successfully litigated child custody disputes in various tribal courts and Indian Child Welfare Act cases in various state courts. I have also litigated wrongful termination claims in tribal administrative forums.

Whether you are a Tribe, a tribal member, or a non-tribal member, I can help you with the following matters:

  • Child Custody
